Hi! My name is Matthew but please call me Matt. I am the founder and guide of ‘My Battlefield Guide’ and ‘On the Front Tours’. Originally from Melbourne Australia, I have been calling Berlin home for the last five years.

I started running military history tours through Berlin as a hobby at the beginning of 2019, whenever I had a free weekend. Over the months the tours grew and my passion for guiding and showing people the immense history Berlin has to offer quickly became a full-time job. A job I look forward to every day!

I have always been a close student of military history. From a young age, my bookshelves were full of history books about the second world war in the European and Pacific theatres. This love of history inspired me to join the Army Cadet program at 14 and I knew a career in the military was for me. Three years later at 17, I made this dream a reality and joined the Australian Army Reserve, where I would go on to serve for eight years.

After leaving the Australian Army, I completed my degree in International Politics at Deakin University and spent the next eight years working in sales. A successful career lead me to become the Head of Sales For Germany, running the European office for a logistics software company headquartered in Singapore.
